SWAN HILL STUDIOS

Swan Hill Studios is a working art and design studio with a risograph print service, housed in an 18th-century building in the heart of Shrewsbury. Alongside our studio practice, we run a contemporary gallery and a year-round programme of exhibitions and events — shining a light on emerging and established artists, designers, illustrators, writers, and makers. 

Community is at the heart of everything we do, bringing independent thinkers and creatives together to connect, collaborate, and belong through The Circle.

Swan Hill Studios kicks off the summer programme on July 2nd with a special exhibition of work by multimedia artists Teresa McCann Clark and Karen Suskin. Rooted in the land, both artists draw deeply from the natural world, landscape, memory, and our relationship with place. Their practices, though distinct, are united by a deep sensitivity to material, process, and the human experience.

Alongside the exhibition, Swan Hill Studios launches its Summer Residency Programme, offering visitors a rare opportunity to step behind the scenes and experience artists at work in real time.

​

Beginning in the final week of July and running throughout August, each resident artist will take over the painting room for one week, opening their practice to the public while developing new work, sharing ideas, and, in some cases, presenting open studios and pop-up exhibitions.

Visitors are invited to drop in, meet the artists, see works in progress, and gain an insight into the rhythms and realities of contemporary creative practice.
